We'll be doing an election post mortem within the next few days. We can't guarantee it gets done before Memorial Day, but we will give it a shot. Two comments we have to make now are these.
Number One. We read in the Citizens' Voice that Tina Gartley downplayed the gender issue when explaining her victory. Tina Gartley won the Democratic nomination for judge in Luzerne County for one reason --- she is a woman. Or perhaps we should put it this way, does anyone out there truly believe that Gartley would have even come close if she were a man? We believe if she were she'd be down near Pendolphiland. More to come.
Number Two. How gullible is the Republican base? Daniel Zola, a thirty three year old Democratic attorney from Hazleton, whose greatest claim to fame is his love for hunting, finishes third in the GOP field. He does this by trying to scare the bejesus out of the GOP base with his crime ridden streets mailer and his Second Amendment rights mailer. Gotta give the guy credit. More to come.

Hey - Norton - how about talking about how little the County Republican Executive committee and their full of sh"" chariman Casey did to support the endorsed Republican candidates??? These bullthrowers did NOTHING to help the endorsed candidates - while they raised bucks to support their egos!!!!!!!!!!!
Carolee endorsed and won.
Richard Hughes endorsed and won.
Doesn't seem they did that poorly.
Steve how are u
Leave him alone Walter....
Oh steve your so funny
Steve:
Saying Tina Gartley won because of gender tells only part of the story: every judge in Luzerne County history, with one exception, has won due to gender -- male gender.
Oh , wow - 2 endosred candidates win on the GOP side and the GOP county chair is some type of hero??? he was pushing for Walter Mitchell anyway! Where is all the big bucks he said he would raise - Casey is the biggest bag of wind ever to hit NEPA - spends money having a HQ in a buidling his father-in-law owns and can't rent!!!
Carolee won because of name recoginition, and because she played up the fact that she got booted out with a lot of money from the good ol' boys Democratic party. Hughes won because he put together a good organization over the past few years. Hughes didn't decide to run for judge a few months ago. He's been contemplating a run for at least the last six years. Neither win had anything to do with the endorsement.
